From Tally.ERP 9 to TallyPrime
TallyPrime is Tally’s current product and the successor to Tally.ERP 9. The upgrade keeps your accounting data but gives you a new, simpler way of working, with new navigation, search and reports.
Most users find TallyPrime easier once they have seen it, but the first day can feel different: menus, shortcuts and screens have changed, and customisations written in TDL for Tally.ERP 9 may need adjusting. A short, planned upgrade with training avoids the surprises.

What is the difference between Tally.ERP 9 and TallyPrime?
TallyPrime is the newer product from Tally Solutions and the successor to Tally.ERP 9. It has simpler navigation, search to find screens and reports, and updated screens, while keeping the accounting logic your team knows.
Will I lose my data when I upgrade?
No. We move your company data to TallyPrime on a copy first, check that balances and reports match, and only then switch you over. Your original data is kept as a backup.
Will my TDL customisations still work in TallyPrime?
Many do, but some need changes. We list every customisation, test it on TallyPrime and adjust what needs fixing before you switch.
How long does an upgrade take?
A simple set-up can be upgraded in a short time, and larger ones with many companies or customisations take longer. We confirm a timeline after we check your data and add-ons.
Do we need new licences?
Licensing for the upgrade depends on your current licence and Tally’s terms. We confirm what applies with Tally before you buy anything.
Can our team keep working during the upgrade?
Yes. We test on a copy and switch at a quiet time, so your team keeps working on the current system until the switch.
