Odoo ERP · Gap Analysis
Odoo Gap Analysis in Saudi Arabia & the Gulf
GoAgile Technologies runs a structured fit-gap analysis before you commit to an Odoo implementation. We map your current processes to Odoo’s standard features and sort every item into one of four groups: fits out of the box, needs configuration, needs custom development, or needs a process change. You receive a fixed, written scope and investment estimate from an Odoo Gold Partner team with 200+ deployments, and the same method also rescues projects that have gone off track.
- A fixed-fee, time-bounded discovery sprint, typically 2–3 weeks
- ZATCA Phase 2, GOSI, VAT and Arabic requirements included in every analysis
- A report you own, usable with any vendor
Why Odoo Projects Fail Without a Gap Analysis
Projects that skip this step typically cost 35–50% more to implement, and can grow by around 40% once the requirements are finally written down.
-
Scope and budget on assumptions
Costs can grow sharply once requirements are properly documented.
-
Custom work found mid-project
Unplanned development adds cost and delay at the worst moment.
-
ZATCA assessed too late
Compliance fixes made late cost more than ones planned from the start.
-
Processes mapped to the wrong modules
The mismatch is caught only during user acceptance testing.
-
A low quote that later escalated
The cheap initial price was based on gaps nobody had looked for.
-
No shared baseline
Stakeholders hold different assumptions about what Odoo can do, until go-live.
Every Requirement Lands in One of Four Groups
That sorting is the heart of a fit-gap analysis. It shows where your money goes, and where it does not need to.
Fits out of the box
Standard Odoo already does it. Nothing to build, and nothing to pay for.
Needs configuration
Standard Odoo can do it with the right set-up, fields and rules.
Needs custom development
A real gap. We document it, size it and give you the choice.
Needs a process change
Sometimes the right fix is to change how you work, and not the software.
Our approach
A fixed-scope discovery sprint, before any implementation contract.
The analysis is time-bounded, typically two to three weeks, and complete before you sign an implementation contract. The Saudi baseline always covers ZATCA Phase 2, GOSI, Saudi VAT, Hijri calendar needs and Arabic interface requirements.
Each gap is rated by severity (show-stopper, major or minor), by resolution (configure, customise, accept a process change or use a third-party tool) and by effort, with a confidence range. The report is a decision document for your leadership.

— ERP project recovery
Rescuing an Odoo Project That Has Gone Off Track
Recovery is a structured process to assess, stabilise and improve an implementation that is late, over budget or underperforming. It is usually more cost-effective than replacing the system, because it keeps what you have already built.
Warning signs: missed deadlines with no clear path, budget overruns, staff reverting to manual work, missing critical functionality, poor performance, data migration problems, reporting you cannot rely on, or a partner who cannot meet expectations.

What is an Odoo gap analysis and why do I need one?
It compares your business processes with what Odoo does out of the box and documents every difference. It turns assumptions into a written scope before you commit a budget, which is the cheapest moment in a project to discover that something is missing.
How long does a gap analysis take?
About two to three weeks for a small or mid-sized business with three to five departments. Larger or more complex organisations may need four to six weeks. We give you a timeline when the engagement starts.
Is the analysis a separate paid engagement?
Yes, it is billed separately from implementation, which keeps it objective. If you go on to implement with us, the fee is typically credited against the implementation invoice.
What if unexpected requirements appear during the analysis?
Each one is documented with the options and the cost of each, and your leadership decides how to handle it. Nothing is added to the scope without your decision.
Can you run a gap analysis on a system that is already live?
Yes. A post-go-live analysis produces a prioritised remediation roadmap showing what to fix, what to automate and what to leave alone.
Which workflows can Odoo automate?
Approvals, task assignments, notifications, stock replenishment, procurement, invoicing, HR processes, customer support, reporting and other routine work. Automation uses Odoo’s automated actions, server actions, scheduled actions, Python automation and integrations through APIs and webhooks.
Can approvals be automated with different rules?
Yes. Multi-level approvals can be routed to the right people by rules such as order value, customer type or product category, with notifications and a visible status at each step.
Can a failed or stalled ERP project be recovered?
Often yes. We assess the implementation, find the root causes, whether scope, data, governance, adoption or technical choices, and build a recovery roadmap with priorities and timelines. Recovery is usually more cost-effective than starting again, because it keeps the investment you have already made.
How long does a recovery assessment take?
Usually one to three weeks, depending on the complexity and scope of the project. You receive a written roadmap at the end.
Can you take over a project from another partner?
Yes. We assess the current state, review what was built and agree a plan, and we work with the existing system and its documentation wherever it is sound.
Do we keep the report?
Yes. You own the report and can use it with any partner, which is why there is no vendor lock-in.
