NCA ECC compliance in Saudi Arabia: from gap assessment to audit-ready evidence

We assess your organisation against the NCA Essential Cybersecurity Controls and its companion controls, build the policies and technical controls that close the gaps and prepare the evidence the NCA expects.

  • ECC-2:2024, CCC, CSCC, OTCC and DCC covered
  • Controls implemented by engineers, not just documented
  • Mock audit before the real one

01Overview

What are the NCA Essential Cybersecurity Controls (ECC)?

The Essential Cybersecurity Controls (ECC) are the minimum cyber security requirements set by Saudi Arabia's National Cybersecurity Authority. They apply to government bodies and to private organisations that own, operate or host critical national infrastructure, and cover governance, defence, resilience and third-party and cloud security.

The NCA publishes further controls alongside the ECC: the Cloud Cybersecurity Controls (CCC), Critical Systems Cybersecurity Controls (CSCC), Operational Technology Cybersecurity Controls (OTCC) and Data Cybersecurity Controls (DCC). Which apply to you depends on what you operate.

The current baseline edition is ECC-2:2024, which updated the 2018 original. Many private organisations also adopt it voluntarily, because customers and regulators increasingly expect it.

What makes an NCA programme succeed

Lessons from regulated organisations in the Kingdom.

  • Governance

    Leadership ownership

The ECC expects top management to sponsor and review cyber security. We help leaders understand their role.

  • Evidence

    Evidence quality

Assessors want records that show controls operating over time, not one-off screenshots.

  • NCA MSOC

    Managed SOC licensing

Where monitoring is outsourced, providers must be licensed by the NCA for your category. We help you choose.

  • Language

    Arabic documentation

Policies and procedures are normally prepared in Arabic and English.

10Questions answered

NCA Compliance FAQs

What is the NCA ECC-2:2024?

It is the current edition of the NCA's Essential Cybersecurity Controls, updating the 2018 original, setting baseline cyber security requirements across governance, defence, resilience and third-party and cloud security.

Who must comply with the ECC?

Government bodies and private organisations that own, operate or host critical national infrastructure. Other organisations adopt it as best practice or because customers require it. Confirm your status with the NCA.

What is the difference between ECC, CCC, CSCC, OTCC and DCC?

ECC is the baseline. CCC covers cloud, CSCC critical systems, OTCC operational technology and DCC data protection. The additional controls apply on top of the ECC where relevant.

How long does ECC compliance take?

Typically six to twelve months for an organisation starting from a moderate baseline, depending on scope and complexity.

Do you help with the NCA assessment itself?

Yes. We prepare evidence, run a mock audit and support you through the assessment and any corrective actions.

Do you provide policies in Arabic?

Yes. Policies and procedures are prepared in Arabic and English.

Is ECC compliance a one-off project?

No. Controls must operate continuously and be reviewed. We offer ongoing monitoring and periodic reassessment.
